Born on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent, Darren Gordon has always had an affinity with the sea. He moved to Bath as a child and later studied Art in Nottingham where he met a girl from Anglesey. His first visit to the island over 25 years ago was an inspirational turning point. He has spent years walking the coastline, finding his favourite spots to paint. Darren enjoys painting on location, his work, which is largely mixed media, is fresh and modern and reflects his love of the impressionists. He now divides his time between painting the Anglesey coastline and teaching Art in Bath. This year he has embarked on a major project walking the entire coastline painting what he sees along the way. He has pledged to donate a contribution of the money he makes through the sale of his paintings to The Marine Conservation Society and their 'Beachwatch' project, a cause he feels strongly about.
